The Ghosts of Ashtead Common If you know Ashtead Common, then you will be aware of the fast number of dead or dying tress we have. The ones I refer to are the burnt out remains of once glorious Oaks, Ash or Elm. Some have defied death and grown new green shoots to start a new life; others stand, still proud, bearing charcoal lungs and resembling mythological statures. My colour images are an attempt to show some ‘softness’ in their decay; whereas the Monochrome depict the true nature of their stark realism.
