Venice 2021
GARDENS OF THE BIENNALE. Traditional site of the Biennale Art Exhibitions since the first edition in 1895, the Gardens rise towards the eastern edge of Venice and were created by Napoleon at the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was the success achieved by the first editions of the Biennale (over 200,000 visitors in 1895, over 300,000 in 1899) that started the construction of the foreign pavilions in 1907, which were added to the already built Central Pavilion. The Gardens now house 29 pavilions from foreign countries, some of these designed and built by famous architects, such as Josef Hoffmann's Austrian pavilion, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld's Dutch pavilion or the Finnish pavilion, a prefabricated floor plan trapezoidal designed by Alvar Aalto. This is a small selection of some of the Pavilions from 2021. THE ARSENAL was home to the ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION titled HOW WILL WE LIVE TOGETHER?
