This is one cathedral I had never visited in all the years I lived in Surrey.  Like a lot of observers, my initial thoughts were 'it’s not attractive enough'.   Worshipers of course, look past the architectural aesthetics and visit for religious reasons.   As an architectural photographer, I was not convinced that it merited closer inspection – that is, until I visited in the spring of 2024 with a group of U3A friends. We were taken on an architecture tour of the interior, and after nearly two hours I had changed my mind entirely on this ‘modern’ 20th century brick building.  Suffice to say, do visit if possible, and see what and how, Edward Maufe (and his wife) did to create an exceptional architecture landmark.
